BRAZIL; Much More than Simply Coffee and Soccer

Undoubtedly, Brazilian coffee is one of the best in the world, if not the best.
The same way, the 5 five time world champion Brazilian soccer is fond of every nation in the world. Who hasn`t heard of the myth Pele, elected the world`s Athlete of the XX Century, or Zico, Ronaldo and Kaka, among many other great players.
However, Brazil has much more to it.
The Amazon Jungle Forest, that accounts for 840 million acres of the rainforest in South America, has an unparallel biodiversity. One out of every ten species in the world lives in the Amazon Rainforest. Therefore, this rainforest in the Northern part of Brazil constitutes the largest collection of living plants and animal species in the world.
There, one can find close to 2.5 million insect species, tens of thousands of plants and more than 2,000 birds and mammals.
The diversity of plant species in this wonderful area is the highest on Earth with an estimated population of over 75,000 types of trees and 150,000 species of high plants per square kilometer.
Among the living animals in this eco system, some are predatory creatures such as the Black Caiman, Jaguar, Anaconda and Piranha Fish, well known for biting and injuring human beings.
Nevertheless, it is a life time experience for one to be able to visit this candidate for one of the New7Wonders of Nature.
To enter this earthly paradise, one arrives through Manaus, the capital of the Amazon State, and from there he/she is invited to enter this jungle through the Meeting of the Waters, where the Solimoes River and the Black River run parallel to each other, for over 8 kilometers, without mixing their waters.
Do you think that this is all to Brazil?
Of course not.
The next mandatory stop, for the one who loves nature, is the well known PANTANAL.
Here, one will be introduced to a Tropical Wetland, the largest one in the world, located between the Brazilian States of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, covering an area of 195,000 square Kilometers.
This area consists of a variety of foodplain sub-regions, each with distinct hydrological, geological and ecological characteristics. Approximately 80% of these foodplains are submerged during the rainy seasons, creating one of the world`s most biological diverse collectioin of aquatic plants, composing the Pantanal Complex. This ecosystem is home to more than 3,500 plant species.
Nonetheless, here one can also find many different animal species, more than 1,000 birds, 400 fish (including Piranha Fish), 300 mammalians and 480 reptiles. Some of the animals found here are: Caiman, Yellow Anaconda, Red-Footed Tortoise and the Green Iguana.
The entrances to this worldwide nature miracle are the cities of Campo Grande in Mato Grosso do Sul or Cuiaba in Mato Grosso, both in the western part of Brazil.
So, next time you think of going on vacation, do come to Brazil.
