متن ایمیل نویسنده کتاب SEARCHING FOR HASSAN به بنده

Dear Arash,
Good to speak with you and thanks for your website on Tudeshk and your visit to Haj agha Hassan.  I love the fotos of him and his family.  I just spoke with Gholam Hussein Janati-Ataie and we would like to plan a trip to Teheran in early April of 2014, just before Sizdeh Bidar.  It may be difficult to do it before then, so I leave this as an idea for you to consider.

I believe that, after reading the book, hundreds of tourists have been encouraged to come to Iran. Over the years, I have received countless letters of thanks from people who have made the journey and been left amazed by the country’s rich heritage and the warm hospitable people of Iran. Some of these tourists have even visited Hassan and Fatimeh’s home in Isfahan!
For example, a few years ago, after I gave a book presentation in Padova, Italy, one woman stood up and announced, “I am going to go to Iran! Who will join me?”  Seven women all stood up, agreeing to make the journey with her.  Three months later, a group of these women–13 in all–flew from Rome to Teheran and began their journey following the itinerary of the book before finally descending on Hassan’s home as their grand finale.  Of course, I phoned Hassan before to warn him that an invasion of ladies was coming and that he would not be caught by surprise. Of course, he prepared with his wife Fatimeh and his daughter Maryam a large offering of delicious shirini, bastani, and chai for everyone and welcomed them as friends into their home for a long visit. When they returned to Italy, the ladies told me later it was the most unforgettable trip of their lifetime  and a journalist wrote a full-page newspaper article about their adventure and the fabulous hospitality that they received during their visit to Iran.  Later I visited Teheran, and was invited by the Italian ambassador Roberto Toscano to give a presentation at the embassy and also at the Italian School which was very pleasing.
Since then, Merchant Ivory Productions were interested in doing a film, but alas, Ismail Merchant suddenly passed on, so it has been postponed.  But surely, one day a film will be made of this powerful human story.   As importantly, since the book was published in America many young Irooni – Amerikayee have told me that once they read the book they have traveled back to Iran for the first time.  My brothers and I love our Persian family deeply.  And this affection and respect has created this bridge of eshraq between us that can never be destroyed, in this life or the next.
Much love,
Terence
